What is a Student Branch?
It is a basic operating unit of a Section or Region, made up of a minimum of twelve students and one professional IEEE member, at a university or technical institute, to represent and fulfill the needs of the members and the mission of the IEEE.
Each Branch will carry out its activities within the IEEE Constitution, Bylaws and Policies, the MGA Operations Manual and other externally imposed rules, which by law affect IEEE membership and activities.

How to create a Student Branch?

A minimum of 12 students with active membership, enrolled in the same institution is required (When registering with the IEEE it is important to verify that they all enter the same school name).

A counselor Professor, who will be responsible for the Student Branch, Two teachers who will serve as guarantees for the creation of the Branch. All three with active IEEE membership.

Data and consent of the Head of the Department of Electronics or related.

They must answer in depth the following questions. In English preferably.

to. If the Student Branch is approved, how and when will the election to complete the Branch committee (vice president, treasurer and secretary) take place?

b. What activities (seminars, contests, etc.) do you have planned for your Student Branch (if approved)? Have you had any activity in your Institute that you want to continue in your Student Branch?

c. What are the plans to keep the Student Branch active, and the members of the Branch and the officers of the Committee involved?

d. What plans exist to keep the Student Branch self-sustaining? How will funding for activities and events be administered?

and. What are your plans to increase the Student Branch membership within the first year? (After approval)

F. Describe How does your institute plan to support the Student Branch?

Once they have all this information, the student chosen as the president of the Branch must start a petition through Petitions IEEE in which they must enter all the aforementioned information.

At the time of sending the request, the 4 professors mentioned will receive an e-mail in which they must enter and mark that they support the creation of the Branch, later the same will happen with the students,

Once all the supporting signatures are available, the system will request approval from the IEEE, we must wait for this to happen.

Once all the signatures have been received, an e-mail will be sent to the student who initiated the petition, in which they will be notified if the creation of the Student Branch was approved or rejected.
