The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Pune Section has instituted awards to encourage students, IEEE Volunteers, Faculty Members, Industrial Persons, and Entrepreneurs. IEEE Pune Section has 23 Student Branches with 1536 Student Members (Including graduate student members) and 514 Professional Members.

Preamble

The IEEE Pune Section, in its attempt to reach out to all its members and involve them in all its activities, is administering awards under various categories. Through its Awards Program, IEEE Pune Section shall advance the interests of its members by recognizing their contributions to advancing the fields of interest to IEEE to the benefit of society. By this means, the image and prestige of the organization, its members, and the profession are all enhanced. The IEEE Pune Section Award Program honors members and other professionals for their service to society.

The IEEE Pune Section Awards shall be awarded for contributions towards the spread of technology and outstanding performance in specific fields of interest of the IEEE. These awards may be presented annually when, in the judgment of the Awards Committee, suitable candidates/branches are available. These awards may be presented during one of the major events happening around year ends such as PuneCon or Pune Section AGM.
All the participants will be given a CERTIFICATE duly signed by the IEEE Pune Section Chair and a MEMENTO. 

The description of the awards is as follows:

1. IEEE Pune Section Student Branch Counselor of the Year

Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch Counselor who has taken extra effort to:

 

  • Promote IEEE Student Membership
  • Promote student awareness of awards, contests, and benefits of IEEE Membership.
  • Establish industrial contacts for programs and activities.
  • Assist in promoting activities to other faculty members.
  • Supported and initiated various technical events for the benefit of student members and professional members and ensure to submit reports of activities to the section.
  • Assist the Student Branch Chair to submit the Annual Report on (https://sbr.vtools.ieee.org/).

Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

2. IEEE Pune Section Student Branch of the Year

Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch which has:

 

  • A Maximum number of active members.
  • Organized quality technical programs with overwhelming attendance
  • Received maximum rebate from the headquarters
  • Helped in organizing Pune Section’s activities.
  • Continuity of membership or retention of members.

Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

3. IEEE Pune Section Student Chair of the Year

Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch Chair who has taken extra effort to:

 

  • Establish a good team and network amongst the student community, and also conducts regular meetings.
  • Appoint Program, Publicity, and Membership committee Chairs promptly.
  • Arrange for the election of new Officers annually and report via vTools Officer Reporting (https://officers.vtools.ieee.org/).
  • Ensure smooth transition of information and materials to newly elected Officers and arrange an orderly transfer of Student Branch
    records.

Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

4. IEEE Pune Section Student Member Volunteer

Awards in this category should be given to the Student Volunteers who have:

 

  • Taken extra effort and displayed enthusiasm in planning, publicizing, getting participation and accomplishing the event in a befitting manner.

These awards can be given to 05 volunteers from various branches on the recommendations of the Branch Counselor and Branch Chair.

Eligibility:
The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for at least Two Years.

5. IEEE Pune Section Professional Member Volunteer

Awards in this category should be given to the Professional Member Volunteers who have:

 

  • They Took extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and took initiative in their respective areas and beyond.

These awards can be given to 03  volunteers on the recommendations of the Awards and Recognition committee.

Eligibility:
The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for at least Five Years

6. IEEE Pune Section Emerging Student Branch

The branch should not be older than 3 years of its formation on 1st OCT 2022.

 

  • Establish a good team and network amongst the student community, and also conduct regular meetings.
  • Appoint Program, Publicity, and Membership committee Chairs promptly.
  • Arrange for the election of new Officers annually and report via vTools Officer Reporting (https://officers.vtools.ieee.org/).
  • Ensure smooth transition of information and materials to newly elected Officers and arrange an orderly transfer of Student Branch records.
  • Most beneficial technical activity for the society
  • Prominent Membership Development
  • Prominent membership growth compared to last year (Industry, Academic and Student)
  • Ensured visible membership advancement (Senior, fellow)
  • Various quality Technical/ Societal activities
  • Organized various Conference/ Workshop/ Seminars.
  • Organized distinguished lectures
  • Activities where a good number of participants from other college students and faculties (IEEE members) participated
  • Conducted regular meetings
  • Created Chapter website and linked to Pune Section

Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

7. IEEE Pune Section Best Chapter Award

Award in this category should be given to a Society Chapter of IEEE Pune Section who has:

 

  • Conducted proper election for Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary details.
  • Ensured prominent membership growth compared to last year (Industry, Academic and Student).
  • Ensured visible membership advancement (Senior, fellow).
  • Organized various quality Technical/ Societal activities.
  • Organized various Conference/ Workshop/ Seminars.
  • Organized distinguished lectures.
  • Ensured a good number of participants from other college students and faculties (IEEE Members) for activities conducted.
  • Encouraged Student Chapter formation and its activities.
  • Conducted a special program for the industry.
  • Conducted regular meetings.
  • Created Chapter website and linked to Pune Section.
  • Updated V-tool.

Eligibility:
The Society Chapter should be in existence for at least 02 years

8. IEEE Pune Section Industrial /Entrepreneur Person of the Year Award

Award in this category should be given to the Industrial Person/Entrepreneur who has:

 

  • The entity should be a start-up recognized by the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) with proper registration. The entity must be able to submit its certificate of incorporation or partnership deed.
  • Entrepreneur’s age should be below the age of 40 years as on April 1st 2022
  • The candidate should be a First-Generation Entrepreneur/s. The definition of a first generation entrepreneur for the scheme is “An entrepreneur who is not in the same line of business as his/her parents. They should have started the enterprise on their own initiative, idea or innovation”.
  • The entity should have a proven record of building innovative products /solutions which can demonstrate measurable social impact.
  • The entity should have the potential for employment generation or wealth creation.
  • The activity/product of the entity shall preferably be in one of the following areas (Indicative list only)
  1. Energy (Clean Energy, Energy Storage, Energy Efficiency)
  2. Health (Access to Health care, Diagnostics, Medical Devices, and Life Sciences)
  3. Agriculture (Productivity, Farmer Engagement & Education, Post-Harvest, Allied Areas)
  4. Education (Access to Institutional Education, Access to open Education, Teacher’s Training)
  5. Industry 4.0 (Big Data, IoT, 3D Printing, Augmented Reality, Wearables, Cloud Computing, Robotics, Computer Vision)

Eligibility:
IEEE members and non-IEEE members can apply for this award.

9. IEEE Pune Section Innovator/Researcher Person of the Year Award

he purpose of this award shall be to recognize faculty/Research Scholars/PG/UG students for their significant contributions to Science andchnology.

 

  • Application must include a summary statement of the innovative research and commercialization contributions made by the nominee.
  • The application must show that a substantial amount of work has been accomplished with recognition given to the University.
  • Evidence of research commercialization could include the development of intellectual properties, technology disclosures, patent applications, and patents.
  • The application must demonstrate clear evidence of the national or international stature of the applicant’s research. The evidence should reflect recognized evaluations in the form of critically reviewed papers, presentations, books, monographs, and other forms of scholarly activity or recognition (e.g., invited presentations, awards, and honors). A complete listing of these should be provided in the applicant’s curriculum vitae, which must be submitted with the application.
  1. The Innovator/Researcher Award is presented to faculty members /Research scholars in recognition of significant contributions to knowledge or artistic creativity.
  2. The award is open to soundtrack faculty members and/or Research Scholar members of the College of Graduate Studies and Research of the university.
  3. Taken extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and took initiative in their respective areas and beyond.
  4. Making an impact for societal benefit.
  5. Having a Patent/ Reputed Publication.

Eligibility:
The Innovator/Researcher must have an IEEE membership.

10. IEEE Pune Section Young Professional of the Year Award

Award in this category should be given to the Young Professional Member who has:

 

  • They Took extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and took initiative in their respective areas and beyond. The Innovator/Researcher Award is presented to faculty members /Research scholars in recognition of significant contributions to knowledge or artistic creativity.

These awards can be given to 02 Young Professional Members on the  recommendations of the Awards and Recognition committee.

    Eligibility:
    The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for at least Five Years.

    11. IEEE Pune Section Women in Engineering of the Year Award

    Award in this category should be given to the Women in Engineering Member who has:

     

    • They Took extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and took initiative in their respective areas and beyond.

    These awards can be given to 02 Women in Engineering Members on the recommendations of the Awards and Recognition committee.

      Eligibility:
      The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for at least Five Years.

      12. IEEE Pune Section Senior Member of the Year Award

      Award in this category should be given to the Women in Engineering Member who has:

       

      • They Took extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and took initiative in their respective areas and beyond.

      These awards can be given to 02 Women in Engineering Members on the recommendations of the Awards and Recognition committee.

        Eligibility:
        The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for at least Five Years.

        Note: IEEE Execom Members are not eligible to apply for the IEEE Pune Section Awards
