About IEEE Pune Section
IEEE Pune Section (R0 01 20) was established on June 26, 2010 with terrestrial boundaries confined to Pune metropolitan City(Postal Code 411001 to 411999) The section falls under the jurisdiction of Asia Pacific Region (R-10) of IEEE. Prior to that it was the subsection of IEEE Bombay section since June 20, 2003 till its formation. At present, the Pune section has more than 300 professional members and over 1100 other members, including student members. There are 19 IEEE Student Branches in different Engineering Colleges in and around Pune City.

Pune, one of the largest urban agglomerations of India, is located in the western Indian state of Maharashtra. The city is one of the biggest industrial towns in India and an important educational, industrial, and cultural centre. Pune hosts several universities and well-known institutions, and research organizations. The city also houses the large number of industries in the field of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), automobile, electrical, electronics, forging, foundries and other engineering Industries. More than one hundred thousand skilled engineering professionals are working in and around the city. The strength of students studying in various disciplines in the city exceeds two hundred thousand.
India’s First Honorable Prime Minister Shri. Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru praised Pune as ‘Oxford of the East’. Pune is renowned as the cultural and educational capital of Maharashtra State. Pune is also rapidly growing as one of the major engineering cities in India, with the majority of domestic and global Industries setting up their roots in the City. Pune is becoming Maharashtra’s prime hub for all Industries as the Pune is recognised as one of the excellent cities for all types of industries considering, Information and Communication Technology (ICT), automobile, electrical, electronics, forging, foundries and other engineering Industries, alongside research, innovation, and development activities.
The continuous development of Pune has naturally created the demand for competent professionals in all the domains including but not limited to ICT, health-care, Agriculture, environmental and sustainable sciences, and it also needs to synchronize strategic gateway and interface to collaborate all in the endeavour of ‘Advancing technology for Humanity’.
IEEE exists for ‘advancing technology for Humanity’, IEEE carries various activities, events, gatherings, conferences, conclaves, competitions to reach all the sections of the society where the technology can be proven as the blessing. In this global endeavour of the IEEE association, IEEE Pune Section proved itself as one of the significant team-player under the IEEE Asia-Pacific Region-10 (R-10) cluster. The various significant events and achievements of the IEEE Pune Section as one of the youngest Section is exemplary in themselves.
