IEEE PUNE SECTION AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS

The Institution of Electrical and Electronics Engineer (IEEE) Pune Section has instituted an
award to encourage students, IEEE Volunter, Faculty Members, Industerial Person, Entrepreneur.
IEEE is a non-profit organization… The world’s leading professional association dedicated for
the advancement of technology for the benefit of humanity…
IEEE Pune Section has 27 Student Branches with 1280 Student Members and 300 Professional
Members.

professionals in improving global conditions.

Preamble
The IEEE Pune Section, in its attempt reach out to all its members and involve them in all
its activities, is administeringawards under various categories. Through its Awards Program,
IEEE Pune Section shall advance the interests of its members by recognizing their contributions
in advancing the fields of interest to IEEE to the benefit of society. By this means, the image and
prestige of the organization, its members, and the profession are all enhanced. The IEEE Pune
Section Award Program honors members and other professionals for their service to society.
The IEEE Pune Section Awards shall be awarded for contributions towards spread of
technology and outstanding performance in specific fields of interest of the IEEE.
These awards may be presented annually when, in the judgment of the Awards
Committee, suitable candidates / branches are available. These awards may be presented during
one of the major events happening around year end such as PuneCon or Pune Section AGM.
All the participants will be given a CERTIFICATE duly signed by the IEEE Pune Section Chair
and a MEMENTO.
The description about the awards are as follows:
1. IEEE Pune Section Student Branch Counselor of the Year
Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch Counselor who has taken
extra effort to:
a. Promote IEEE Student Membership
b. Promote student awareness of awards, contests, and benefits of IEEE Membership.
c. Establish industrial contacts for programs and activities.
d. Assist in promoting activities to other faculty members.
e. Supported and initiated various technical events for the benefit of student members
and professional members and ensure to submit reports of activities to the section.
f. Assist the Student Branch Chair to submit the Annual Report on
(https://sbr.vtools.ieee.org/).

 

Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

2. IEEE Pune Section Student Branch of the Year
Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch which has:
a. Maximum number of active members.
b. Organized quality technical programs with overwhelming attendance
c. Received maximum rebate from the headquarters
d. Helped in organizing Pune Section’s activities.
e. Continuity of membership or retention of members
Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

3. IEEE Pune Section Student Chair of the Year
Award in this category should be given to the Student Branch Chair who has taken extra
effort to:
a. Establish a good team and network amongst the student community, and also
conducts regular meetings.
b. Appoint Program, Publicity, and Membership committee Chairs promptly.
c. Arrange for the election of new Officers annually and report via vTools Officer
Reporting (https://officers.vtools.ieee.org/).
d. Ensure smooth transition of information and materials to newly elected Officers and
arrange an orderly transfer of Student Branch records.
Eligibility:
The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional Members

4. IEEE Pune Section Student Member Volunteer
Award in this category should be given to the Student Volunteers who has:
a. Taken extra effort and displayed enthusiasm in planning, publicizing, getting
participation and accomplishing the event in befitting manner.
b. These awards can be given to 05 volunteers from various branches on the
recommendations of Branch Counselor and Branch Chair.
Eligibility: The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for atleast Two Years

5. IEEE Pune Section Professional Member Volunteer
Award in this category should be given to the Professional Member Volunteers who has:
a. Taken extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and taken initiatives in their respective areas
and beyond.
These awards can be given to 03 volunteers on the recommendations of Awards and
Recognition committee.
Eligibility: The Volunteer must have IEEE membership for atleast Five Years

6. IEEE Pune Section Emerging Student Branch
Award in this category should be given to a student branch which has been formed not
before 2017 and who has carried out:
a. Establish a good team and network amongst the student community, and also
conducts regular meetings.
b. Appoint Program, Publicity, and Membership committee Chairs promptly.
c. Arrange for the election of new Officers annually and report via vTools Officer
Reporting (https://officers.vtools.ieee.org/).
d. Ensure smooth transition of information and materials to newly elected Officers and
arrange an orderly transfer of Student Branch records.
e. Most beneficial technical activity for the society
f. Prominent Membership Development
g. Prominent membership growth compared to last year(Industry, Academic and
Student)
h. Ensured visible membership advancement (Senior, fellow)
i. Various quality Technical/ Societal activities
j. Organized various Conference/ Workshop/ Seminars
k. Organized distinguished lectures
l. Activities where good number of participants from other college students and
faculties (IEEE Members) participated
m. Conducted regular meetings
n. Created Chapter website and Linked to Pune Section
Eligibility: The Student Branch must have 12 Student Members and 03 Professional
Members

7. IEEE Pune Section Best Chapter Award
Award in this category should be given to a Society Chapter of IEEE Pune Section who
has:
a. Conducted proper election for Chairman, Vice Chairman and Secretary details
b. Ensured prominent membership growth compared to last year(Industry, Academic
and Student)
c. Ensured visible membership advancement (Senior, fellow)
d. Organized various quality Technical/ Societal activities
e. Organized various Conference/ Workshop/ Seminars
f. Organized distinguished lectures
g. Ensured good number of participants from other college students and faculties (IEEE
Members) for activities conducted
h. Encouraged Student Chapter formation and its activities
i. Conducted special program for industry
j. Conducted regular meetings
k. Created Chapter website and Linked to Pune Section
l. Updated V-tool
Eligibility: The Society Chapter should be in existence for atleast 02 years

8. IEEE Pune Section Industrial /Enterprenurer Person of the year Award
Award in this category should be given to the Industerial Person/Enterpruner who has
a. The entity should be a start-up recognized by Department for Promotion of Industry
and Internal Trade (DPIIT) with proper registration. The entity must be able to
submit their certificate of incorporation or partnership deed.
b. Entrepreneur’s age should be below the age of 40 years as on April 1st 2020
c. The candidate should be a First-Generation Entrepreneur/s. The definition of a first
generation entrepreneur for the scheme is “An entrepreneur who is not in the same
line of business as his/her parent. They should have started the enterprise on their
own initiative, idea or innovation”.
d. The entity should have proven record of building innovative products /solutions
which can demonstrate measurable social impact.
e. The entity should have the potential of employment generation or wealth creation.
f. The activity / product of the entity shall preferably be in one of the following areas (
Indicative list only)
— Energy (Clean energy, Energy Storage, Energy Efficiency)
— Health(Access to Health care, Diagnostics,Medical Devices, Life Sciences)
— Agriculture (Productivity, Farmer Engagement & Education, Post-Harvest, Allied
Areas)
—Education (Access to Institutional Education, Access to open Education, Teachers
Training)
—Industry 4.0 (Big Data, IOT, 3D Printing, Augmented Reality, Wearables, Cloud
Computing, Robotics, Computer Vision)
g. Taken extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and taken initiatives in their respective
areas and beyond.

9. IEEE Pune Section Inoovator/Resercher Person of the Year Award
The purpose of this award shall be to recognize faculty/Research Scholar/PG/UG students for
significant contribution in Science and Technology.
 Application must including a summary statement of the innovative research and
commercialization contributions made by the nominee.
 The application must show that a substantial amount of work has been accomplished with
recognition given to the University.
 Evidence of research commercialization could include the development of intellectual
properties, technology disclosures, patent applications, and patents.
 The application must demonstrate clear evidence of the national or international stature of
the applicant’s research. The evidence should reflect recognized evaluations in the form
of critically reviewed papers, presentations, books, monographs, and other forms of
scholarly activity or recognition (e.g., invited presentations, awards, honors). A complete
listing of these should be provided in the applicant’s curriculum vitae, which must be
submitted with application.
a.The Innovator/Researcher Award is presented to one for professional Member
and one for student member.
b. Faculty members /Research Scholar/ UG/PG students in recognition of significant
contributions to knowledge or artistic creativity.
c.The award is open to sound track faculty members and/or Research Scholar/UG/
members of the College of Graduate Studies and Researcher of the university.
d.Taken extra effort, displayed enthusiasm and taken initiatives in their respective areas
and beyond.
e. Making impact for societal benefit. Having Patent/ Reputed Publication.
Eligibility: The Inoovator/Resercher must have IEEE membership
